This Privacy Policy explains what personal information DearGivers collects, why, how it's protected, and what choices you have about it. It applies to families, caregivers, and anyone else using the DearGivers app or website.
DearGivers operates in Jamaica and handles personal data in line with Jamaica's Data Protection Act, 2020.
Account information: your name, email, phone number, and role (family, caregiver, or admin).
Caregiver verification documents: government-issued ID, police record, references, and any certifications (e.g. CPR, nurse license) you submit to become verified. These are among the most sensitive information we hold, and are visible only to our verification team, never to families.
Booking details: service type, schedule, patient name and age, address, and any notes you share about care needs, some of which may reflect health-related information about the person receiving care.
Location data: if you choose to "pin" an exact address, we store the GPS coordinates you provide at that moment. This is entirely optional and only captured when you tap that specific button.
Payment information: DearGivers does not store your full card number. Card payments are processed by a licensed third-party payment processor; we retain only the transaction outcome and amount. For bank transfers, we retain the receipt you upload and the account details relevant to that transfer.
Usage information: basic technical data like device type and general app activity, used to keep the service working reliably.
To create and manage your account, verify caregiver identity and credentials, match families with suitable caregivers, process payments and payouts, send booking-related notifications and emails, respond to support requests, and maintain the safety and integrity of the platform.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
We work with a small number of trusted third-party service providers who help run DearGivers behind the scenes, including secure data hosting, payment processing, and email delivery. Each is given only the information they need to do that specific job, under their own confidentiality and security obligations.
A caregiver's identity documents and police record are never shared with families, only the verification status (e.g. "ID Verified") is visible to them. A family's phone number is only shared with a caregiver once a booking is officially confirmed and paid for.
We may share information if required by law, to investigate fraud or a safety concern, or in connection with a business transfer (e.g. a merger), in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.
We retain account and booking information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution needs. Caregiver verification documents are retained only for as long as needed to keep a profile active; we'll delete them on request once an account is closed, subject to any legal retention requirements.
You can access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information by contacting us (details below). You can update most account details yourself from your profile. If you'd like a copy of the data we hold about you, or want an account permanently closed, reach out and we'll handle it directly, deletion may be delayed where we have a legal obligation to retain certain records.
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) throughout the app, access-controlled document storage, and role-based permissions so only authorized team members can view sensitive verification documents. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute protection against every possible threat, but we treat sensitive data (identity documents, police records, payment details) with the highest level of care we can reasonably provide.
DearGivers is intended for use by adults 18 and older. When a family books child care, the child's name, age, and care needs are provided by the parent or guardian, we don't collect information directly from children, and children don't have their own DearGivers accounts.
We use only the minimum technical storage needed to keep you signed in and the app functioning, no third-party advertising trackers or cross-site tracking cookies.
We may update this Privacy Policy as DearGivers evolves. We'll update the date below when we do, and for material changes we'll make a reasonable effort to notify active users.
Questions about this policy, or requests relating to your personal information, can be sent to support@deargivers.com or via WhatsApp through the contact options in the app.
